Students will learn basic turning skills, safety practices, proper techniques and gain experience creating several projects, generally one per week. Projects include making a honey dipper, candle stick, bowl, platter, goblet, lidded box, etc. or some variation thereof. During the last session sharpening of tools will be addressed.

Sharp tools make turning so much more safe, fun, and easier. Sharpening can be one of the most daunting of task for new turners. This class will take some of the mystery out of the necessary task and get you into turning with properly sharpened tools. There will be a demonstration followed by hands-on practical application of sharpening so bring your own tools to sharpen. If you don’t have your own traditional tools yet let us know ahead of time and we will find something for you to sharpen. Led by John Keel.
