The Wilmington Area Woodturners Association Annual Picnic is coming up on May 16th and starts at 11 AM. It will be held at Mike and Annette Laska’s beautiful home located at 901 Old Lennon Rd, Bolivia, NC 28422.
The club will supply the hamburgers, hotdogs, and all the fixings. We ask that you bring a side dish or a dessert. Please tell us what you are bringing so we can be sure to even out duplicates if needed. Other than the side dish, the picnic is free to all members.
Instead of the Top Competition we have held the past couple of years, we will be holding the Chapter Challenge judging. The Chapter Challenge for this event is a to complete a set of Stacked Lidded Boxes (guidelines detailed below). Jean LeGwin, Byron Rosbrugh, and Jack Fifield This is the only opportunity to submit an entry for the Challange and you must be present to win!
The prizes for the Challenge: we have three different Sorby spindle gouges (1/4 inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/2 inch) for each category. These have custum turned handles and are engraved with "Wilmington Area Woodturners, Chapter Challenge 2026" on the handles.
